Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy in Lafayette, LA

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy should be a full body approach

At Louisiana Pelvic Health, Dr. Melissa takes a holistic and comprehensive approach to your pelvic health symptoms. She works to get to the root cause of your issue, which is unlike traditional PT.

She's here to help you get your life back if you are experiencing concerns, such as leakage, prolapse, painful intercourse, constipation, or any other pelvic or low back pain.

This is more than just “do your Kegels” and “use this biofeedback machine" and it’s much more than just manual therapy and doing exercises on a table. Quality pelvic health care stars with an evaluation and development of treatment plan that is specific to you so that you can get the best results.

Pelvic Floor Therapy should be a full-body approach and this is exactly how we do things through our Pelvic Therapy Packages.

Pelvic Therapy Packages Include:

Individualized Sessions

Each pelvic therapy package includes a customized number of sessions per month as one component of our specialized hybrid treatment plan.

Depending on your specific needs, additional sessions may be added.

Exercise Programming

Each pelvic therapy package includes individualized rehab and exercise programming designed specifically for your diagnosis and results of your assessment.

Continued Communication

You will have direct access throughout the program for questions about symptoms, exercises, and modifications, and we'll work together to make any changes to your program as necessary.

Access to Our PT App

Once you meet with our pelvic health therapist, we will design your custom program together with delivery to our Flow PT app. You will have all of the steps outlined so you know exactly what to do each day with support along the way.

Birth Prep is a specific type of proactive treatment during pregnancy, It is not reactive to your pelvic issues later down the road.

By utilizing pelvic floor & core birth prep strategies:

  • Confidently take control of your labor experience

  • Optimize your risk for perineal tearing

  • Lower your risk for a c-section

  • Know how to prevent bladder leaks

  • Lift your kids and groceries without back pain

  • Have a safe and effective exercise routine

  • Know how to push effectively

  • Transition seamlessly into postpartum

  • Never have to wonder "is this normal" after the birth

How it Works:

Schedule your 1:1 pregnancy or birth prep initial assessment

Set goals with your PT to address pelvic issues or prepare for birth to prevent issues

Receive a personalized plan of care with access to follow up sessions on a frequency that meets your needs

The American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology recommends all birthing people to have a pelvic floor physical therapy assessment in the first 3 months

We not only specialize in your pelvic floor & return to exercise recovery, but we also help you transition into motherhood with better nutrient stores & understanding your postpartum fertility.

Our healthcare system does not prioritize taking care of mom postpartum. ONE 6-week follow up appointment with your OB or midwife does not meet the needs of a new mom.

At this visit, you will likely find out that everything has returned to normal, and you will be given the green light to return to sex, exercise, and to get on birth control.

What often happens is that our patients are so excited to find out this good news, so they try to run or go back to their favorite exercise & experience heaviness, leakage, or pelvic pain.

They start to question if this is really that big of a deal because the doctor said they were fine.

The 6-week mark postpartum is just the beginning of your recovery
